About SEPLAT

Seplat Energy PLC is a significant Nigerian independent energy company dual-listed on the Nigerian Exchange and London Stock Exchange. The company specializes in upstream oil and gas exploration, production, and midstream gas processing in the Niger Delta.

Seplat Energy PLC was established in 2009 through a strategic partnership between Shebah Petroleum Development Company Limited and Platform Petroleum Limited. It was created to acquire working interests in oil mining leases (OMLs) in Nigeria, subsequently growing into a prominent domestic energy provider through targeted acquisitions and organic development.

In 2014, the company completed a successful dual listing on both the Nigerian Stock Exchange (now NGX) and the London Stock Exchange Main Market, becoming one of the first Nigerian companies, and commonly cited as the first Nigerian company with ordinary shares admitted to the LSE Main Market, raising capital to fund its expansion. Today, Seplat operates multiple onshore and shallow-water assets, positioning itself as a vital contributor to Nigeria's domestic gas-to-power infrastructure.

As part of its long-term strategy, the company is actively transitioning to a broader energy mix. This includes expanding domestic gas supply, which can support power generation and reduce reliance on more carbon-intensive fuels where gas replaces them.

Strategic Asset Portfolio

Seplat Energy operates a robust portfolio of oil and gas assets located within the prolific Niger Delta basin. These onshore and shallow-water blocks contribute significantly to both export markets and Nigeria's domestic power sector. Through technical partnerships and joint ventures, the company continues to optimize recovery rates from its core wells.

Gas and Power Infrastructure

Recognizing the critical energy deficit in West Africa, Seplat has focused on midstream gas processing. Seplat supplies processed gas to domestic customers including power generation plants. This infrastructural focus supports industrial growth by providing a more reliable and cost-effective domestic fuel alternative.
