Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Naija Trades collects and uses personal data for account access, simulated competitions, market-news features, security, and support.

Data We Collect

We collect account details such as handle, email address, password hash, age and terms confirmations, sign-in cookies, competition entries, simulated trades, and support or privacy requests.

We may process technical data such as device, browser, IP address, session identifiers, security logs, and cookie preferences to keep the service reliable and secure.

We collect first-party product analytics events for actions such as signup, sign-in, joining competitions, first simulated trades, invite acceptance, email opens and clicks, share actions, and broker handoffs. These analytics events do not store raw email addresses, IP addresses, full user agents, or unrestricted request parameters.

Why We Use Data

We use personal data to create accounts, authenticate users, run simulated competitions, display leaderboards, prevent abuse, provide support, comply with legal obligations, and improve the product.

We use product analytics to understand activation, retention, invite conversion, email engagement, and broker-handoff performance so we can improve the service and measure whether core user journeys work.

We do not use solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects for users. Rankings and competition outcomes are game calculations based on simulated activity.

Cookies

Naija Trades uses first-party cookies that are necessary for sign-in, CSRF protection, security, remembering selected competitions, and saving cookie-consent status.

Server-side product analytics for signed-in account activity is handled without third-party tracking scripts. Browser-initiated analytics, such as share-action tracking, runs only after cookie consent has been accepted.

NDPA Rights

Subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable exceptions, you may request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction, objection to processing, portability, withdrawal of consent where consent applies, and information about processing.

You may submit a verified data export or account deletion request from your account page. We respond without undue delay and within 30 calendar days. Export links and their private archives expire after 7 days.

When deletion is completed, we remove your email address, phone number, authentication credentials, notification subscriptions, referrals, and user-linked raw analytics. We keep simulated entries, picks, trades, final results, badges, and leaderboard snapshots under a replacement anonymous handle solely to preserve contest integrity, resolve disputes, and maintain historical leaderboards. The privacy-request audit retains its type, status, and timestamps but not the original email, handle, or account link.

You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe your rights have been infringed.

Sharing and Retention

We share data with service providers that help operate Naija Trades, and with third parties where required by law or necessary to protect users, the service, or legal rights.

We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain competition records.

Raw product analytics events that may be linked to your account are retained for up to 90 days. After that, we delete the raw events after adding them to daily totals that do not contain user, competition-entry, trade, or event-property identifiers. We may retain those non-identifying daily totals for long-term trend reporting.

We use essential cookies for sign-in, security, and saving your competition session. Read our Privacy Policy.
