Road Construction, Excavation Cause 5,000 Fibre Cuts in 6 Months– NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission reported more than 5,000 fibre-optic cable cuts nationwide in the first six months of 2026. The incidents, linked mainly to road construction, excavation and other civil works, have disrupted telecommunications services and highlighted infrastructure vulnerabilities affecting Nigeria’s telecoms sector.
