Health insurance enrolment rises but coverage gap persists

Health insurance enrolment in Nigeria increased to 22.03 million by July 2026, a 35 per cent year-on-year rise, according to the National Health Insurance Authority. Despite the growth, a substantial coverage gap remains, leaving many Nigerians exposed to rising out-of-pocket healthcare costs.
