Court voids Reps’ N72.6bn compensation directive against Seplat, says judicial powers usurped

A Federal High Court in Lagos has nullified a House of Representatives directive ordering Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited to pay a substantial compensation sum over alleged oil spill incidents. The court ruled that the National Assembly exceeded its constitutional authority by attempting to exercise judicial powers.
